Hi! I own a restaurant in San Francisco and it occured to me I could be more sustainable if we used the fat to make soap. The problem is my husband the chef pours all different oils after use into a single jug so I don't know the amount of each different fat. All I know is that it is about a gallon each week. I plan to render and clean it all, and get an exact weight but the combo will remain a mystery. Is this going to be a problem when calculating LYE?

I thought about doing this but ultimately did not because the smell of the fried foods doesn’t go away so easily and the fact that you need to know the % of each oil in the container. If you really want to do it though, tell your husband to put the oils in different containers.

Thank You!!! Follow up regarding oils that might be the same/similar: I was on soapcalc and clearly just learning how to use it. Any tips on figuring out which oils are the same? 💜Thank you again+++

There just is no safe way without knowing the percentage of each oil.
