I am master batching my Lye at a 1:1 ratio of water to lye and my recipes use a 2:1 ratio. If my recipe needs 5oz of lye, then I would use 10oz of my master batch solution and then add an additional 5 oz of liquid (water, milk, etc) which brings me up to that 2:1 ratio.
I am new to using soapmaking friend and am just playing around with it. I've entered my supplies and one of my recipes and then created a batch so I could see how it works. The recipe needs 9.38oz of my lye mixture plus 4.69oz additional liquid. When I create that batch, it is deducting 9.38oz from my lye supply, even though only half of that is lye and the other half is water. Am I not using this correctly? Or is there a way to create a supply of my lye solution that deducts from the lye supply, and then my recipe would deduct from the lye solution?
